CORE VALUES:
Our Community
Our faculty is dedicated to our educational mission and the professional and personal development of our residents. Our faculty accepts overall responsibility for patient care and strives for excellence in teaching and research.
Our residents are dedicated to the pursuit of surgical skill, knowledge, and judgment. Our residents are both learners and teachers, and accept an appropriate level of responsibility for patient care and for the education of more junior residents and medical students.
The Curriculum
Our faculty develops a curriculum that meets national standards for surgical education. Our program will provide the framework for optimal surgical training and will respect the personal development and family responsibilities of our residents.
Professional Relationship
Educational achievement occurs in an atmosphere of mutual respect. Our faculty and residents are professional colleagues in partnership for the pursuit of excellence. We provide and accept both constructive criticism and recognition of achievement.
Diversity
We embrace the value of diversity in our professional community. We acknowledge the unique strengths and weaknesses of each of our colleagues. We strive to meet the educational and personal needs of our trainees while emphasizing the high standards expected of our profession.
Leadership
Our community recognizes the leadership role of the Chief Resident, who serves as a role model for more junior residents and medical students. We foster the development and leadership skills of all physicians who train in our community.
